Karate-dō, the way of the empty hand, is the most powerful unarmed combat art. Karate is relatively new to Japan. It was introduced by Funakoshi Gichin from Okinawa, less then 100 years ago. It has evolved gaining distinct Japanese characteristics such as deep powerful stances used in Kenjutsu (Japanese Swordsmanship).
Nippon Karate-dō Genwakai is the style of karate taught at Ohio Budōkan. Self-improvement is integral to this style of karate. Our curriculum consists of perfecting basic blocks, kicks, and strikes. Our Karate students learn to attack with total commitment, concentrating physical and spiritual energy into a single technique of overwhelming power. |
