May I be a student of multiple arts at Ohio Budokan?
It is discouraged for new students to begin practicing multiple arts at the same time. Many martial arts have similar (but different), stances, movements, and emphasis on technique. Training in more than one at a time divides one's focus and often creates problems with performing the techniques of both arts. Once a student has a few years under their belt in a given style they should request permission to practice in another art from their sensei who will help them assess their readiness.
Can I "Drop in" for a class if I do a different martial art?
Yes, and you will be expected perform to the standards of the class you attend. If you are in town on business, or just visiting, training in your art along with our class may be arranged on a case by case basis by contacting the appropriate instructor. A "mat fee" of $10 dollars per class is required for any visitation.
