"I think the karate training at Ohio Budokan Dojo is fun, and with the skills I learned I think that I can now better protect my friends and my older sister from bullies.

Going to Karate training is a good workout on Saturday morning when I'd otherwise be sleeping in, or watching TV, and with all the years of training I got at the dojo, my parents think that I have accomplished more than my other school friends.

I have also made new friends at the dojo and I feel more confident in my abilities and chances of succeeding at other things. I think that the only other way to experience the Japanese culture and language would be to go live in Japan. For now though I'm happy to train at Ohio Budokan."

"Going to Ohio Budokan karate is very fun and a good learning experience. When I am in the classes on Saturday morning, karate usually gets me more awake and ready for the day so I won’t be falling asleep. Over time, going to classes has helped me boost my confidence and now I can stand up for myself if somebody tries to hurt me.  Also, I  enjoy the satisfaction of saying that I do karate to make my friends jealous.
The sensei are understanding and they will try to help you do better every class period. During class we usually speak Japanese terms like counting from 1 to 10 in Japanese so we can embrace the culture. Overall, Ohio Budokan is a really nice place to go and learn and see different things and I am glad that I am part of it!"

"I think you all are great! The kids get individualized attention, they learn composure and how to control their temperament. They must work to pass the belt and stripe tests – then they are awarded the belt or stripes with special attention and applause. They must adhere to the dojo rules; belt tied properly, repeat the pledge, show manners and respect. And the karate skills they learn are invaluable, the way they are taught, the muscle memory – the karate becomes second nature."
